We are looking for a Postdoctoral researcher in fruit pathology to join the Postharvest Program team, based in Lleida (Fruitcentre). We offer the opportunity to be part of an organization with a dynamic, collaborative work environment focused on professional development.

The Postharvest Program aims to improve the quality of fruits and vegetables throughout the postharvest chain by developing innovative and sustainable strategies to control diseases, physiological disorders, and quality losses during storage.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• To perform research activities for the designated projects (national and/or international) and for contractual research with private companies in topics related to fruit pathology.

• To be up to date with the state of the art research on the related topic as well as to transfer results and knowledge to stakeholders and end-users.

• To contribute to positioning the Postharvest Program as a group of excellence through regular peer-reviewed publications, contributions at national and international congresses and supervision of PhD and researchers.

• To work in close collaboration with other IRTA researchers, as well as with external academic, institutional, and industrial partners.

Required qualifications and experience

• BSc in Biology, Agronomy or related field with a PhD in Plant and/or Postharvest Pathology.

• Proven experience in fruit pathology and a relevant record of peer-reviewed scientific publications in this field.

• Proven experience in epidemiology and control of diseases.

• Proficiency in English, both spoken and written.

• Strong teamwork skills, ability to adapt to multidisciplinary environments and a focus on professional growth and development.

Desirable requirements

• Good communicative skills.

• Proven experience in project management, with good organizational and coordination skills.

• Full driving license for Europe and travelling availability.

• Experience in pome and stone fruits will be valued.

• Catalan and Spanish will be valued.

• 2-years Postdoctoral experience and achievements in similar fields will be evaluated.

• Ability to establish and build good relationships within and outside the institution that will allow pursuing the objectives of the R&D activities and the Program´s strategic research goals.

• Willingness to organise, share information and suggest improvements.

Busquem un/a investigador/a postdoctoral en patologia de la fruita per incorporar-se a l'equip del Programa de Postcollita, ubicat a Lleida (Fruitcentre). Oferim l'oportunitat de formar part d'una organització amb un entorn de treball dinàmic i col·laboratiu, orientat al desenvolupament professional.

El Programa de Postcollita té com a objectiu millorar la qualitat de les fruites i hortalisses al llarg de tota la cadena de postcollita mitjançant el desenvolupament d'estratègies innovadores i sostenibles per al control de malalties, alteracions fisiològiques i pèrdues de qualitat durant l'emmagatzematge.

Funcions i responsabilitats:

• Dur a terme activitats de recerca en els projectes assignats (nacionals i/o internacionals), així com en projectes de recerca contractada amb empreses privades, en àmbits relacionats amb la patologia de la fruita.

• Mantenir-se al dia sobre l'estat de l'art de la recerca en aquest àmbit i transferir els resultats i el coneixement als agents implicats i als usuaris finals.

• Contribuir al posicionament del Programa de Postcollita com a grup d'excel·lència mitjançant la publicació regular d'articles científics revisats per parells, la participació en congressos nacionals i internacionals i la supervisió de doctorands i personal investigador.

• Treballar en estreta col·laboració amb altres investigadors/es de l'IRTA, així com amb socis acadèmics, institucionals i industrials externs.

Requisits i experiència:

• Grau en Biologia, Agronomia o un àmbit afí, amb doctorat en Patologia Vegetal i/o Patologia de Postcollita.

• Experiència demostrable en patologia de la fruita i un historial rellevant de publicacions científiques revisades per parells en aquest àmbit.

• Experiència demostrable en epidemiologia i control de malalties.

• Domini de l'anglès, tant oral com escrit.

• Capacitat per treballar en equip, adaptar-se a entorns multidisciplinaris i orientació al creixement i desenvolupament professional.

Mèrits addicionals:

• Bones habilitats comunicatives.

• Experiència demostrable en gestió de projectes, amb bones capacitats d'organització i coordinació.

• Permís de conduir vàlid a Europa i disponibilitat per viatjar.

• Experiència en fruiters de llavor (pomera, perera) i de pinyol (préssec, nectarina, albercoc, etc.).

• Coneixements de català i castellà.

• Dos anys d'experiència postdoctoral i assoliments en àmbits similars.

• Capacitat per establir i mantenir bones relacions tant dins com fora de la institució, que permetin assolir els objectius de les activitats d'R+D i els objectius estratègics del Programa.

• Capacitat d'organització, de compartir informació i de proposar millores.
