Researcher in Economy for the Agrifood Economics Program
We are an agri-food Research Institute under the Government of Catalonia, where over 1000 professionals work, with commitment, across 19 research areas to contribute to the future and to society.
We are currently seeking a Researcher in Economy to join our Agrifood Economics Program team located in Castelldefels (CREDA), offering a great opportunity to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment within our organization.
We invite applications from motivated candidates with relevant research experience and passion to conduct research and innovation activities on socioeconomic analysis of issues related to the production, processing, and consumption of food products as well as the interactions of food system with natural resources and the environment.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Actively contribute to uptake R+D+I economic funds from both public institutions (competitive calls) and private agreements within the Agro-food sector.
- Write scientific papers and reports based on the research activity as well as to participate in technology transfer and/or advice activities addressed to both public and private sectors.
- Develop and maintain contacts with potential users of R+D+i activities along the food-supply chain as well to actively participate in dissemination activities.
- Contribute and collaborate in human capital formation by supervising PhD and master thesis on agro-food economics.
Required qualifications and experience
- PhD in Economics, Applied Economics or Agricultural Economics
- Experience in participating in national and/or European projects from competitive calls
- At least 7 publications in Impact factor journals (JCR, SCOPUS) in the areas of ECONOMICS or AGRICULTURAL ECONOMICS being the first or the last author
- Working knowledge of English (Knowledge of Spanish is not compulsory)
- Strong teamwork skills, ability to adapt to multidisciplinary environments and a focus on professional growth and development.
Desirable requirements
- Good knowledge of quantitative methods (econometric models, time series econometric and/or mathematical programming tools) applied to modelling agricultural and food policies and markets.
- Good knowledge of microeconomic theory and agricultural and food policies.
- Experience in using agricultural and food databases at local, regional, national, European and international levels.
- Experience in getting primary information: surveys, questionnaires, deep interviews, Focus groups, etc.
- Catalan and Spanish are valued.
